Mark, the founding principal of Borrello Legal, completed a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Australia in 2005 already having developed a rich and deep understanding of the land tenure system in Western Australia. Mark is also a co-director of Complex Land Solutions Pty Ltd, a leading property and land tenure consultancy firm.

Since being admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Western Australia in early 2007 Mark has practised solely in the areas of property law, commercial law and franchising law; acting for a broad range of clients including small and large property developers, commercial real estate agencies, franchise groups, private primary production farmers, and private individuals.

Mark regularly advises landlords and tenants in all aspects of commercial and retail leasing and has developed a significant commercial leasing practice acting for multiple commercial real estate agencies. Mark also has vast experience in property development and subdivision and preparation of off-the-plan strata contracts together with business conveyancing (including the sale and purchase of franchised businesses) and general commercial advice, including trade marking and intellectual property rights and issues.

Focused on achieving results for his clients, Mark is commercially minded and a practical thinker.

Mark is a member of the Law Society of Western Australia and the Franchise Council of Australia.

Joe joined Borrello Legal in August 2010 as a principal, bringing 15 years of experience to the firm. Joe practices in general commercial, commercial property and franchising law.

Since being admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 1997, Joe has acted for a broad range of clients, from small businesses, accounting practices and real estate agencies to large corporate organisations, financial institutions and property developers. His expertise covers all areas of franchise law, the acquisition of large-scale properties, the strata titling of properties, the preparation of "off the plan" and established strata lot sales contracts, the preparation of leasing documentation and giving leasing advice for a broad range of commercial and retail properties, including shopping centre leases.

Joe regularly advises landlords and tenants in relation to leasing issues. He has also provided advice in relation to the fundraising and disclosure provisions of the Corporations Act 2001 as they relate to the establishment of small property development schemes.

Joe has extensive experience in the franchise industry, and since 2003 has had a practice comprising the preparation of franchise documentation, the provision of advice to existing and potential franchisors, litigation and mediation support for franchising disputes and Trade Practices advice.

Joe is currently the Vice President of the WA Chapter of the Franchise Council of Australia, the peak industry body for the franchising sector. 

Frank is the managing director of Complex Land Solutions Pty Ltd, a leading property and land tenure consultancy firm.

With over 40 years experience in property and land administration matters, he consults to Borrello Legal on a broad range of complex property matters including land tenure, detailed document registration, subdivisions, strata titling, easement creation, restrictive covenants, and town planning issues.

Having previously worked in senior roles with Landgate, the State Solicitor's Office, the Rural Adjustment Finance Corporation and a leading West Perth based private legal practice, Frank has developed skills in the areas of project management, land acquisitions and amalgamations, property tenure, disposals and general land administration.

Frank's significant practical experience in complex property matters makes him a valued member of the Borrello Legal team and the first port of call for many of our property based clientele.

Frank's technical understanding of the land and securities registration system throughout Western Australia is unparalleled.

John, with over 40 years experience, consults to Borrello Legal in complex property matters, including land tenure, detailed document registration, subdivisions, strata titling, easement creation, restrictive covenants, adverse possession issues and land development proposals.

Prior to commencing his own consultancy business, John was the Manager of the Complex Dealings Section with the Land Registration Services section of the Western Australian Land Information Authority (now Landgate). John has extensive experience, with respect to all Deeds Office and Torrens Land registration matters ranging from the most straightforward to the extremely complex.

John was also formerly the Senior Assistant Registrar of Titles at Landgate and Senior Reference Officer for examination staff with regard to all technical matters and registration issues.

Throughout his tenure at Landgate, John was actively involved in the transition from Paper Titles to the existing Digital Titling system and has participated in several successful international land administration projects relating to the development of Land Registration systems in Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Mauritius.

John is a valued member of the Borrello Legal team. John’s practical and technical understanding of the land registration process in Western Australia is second to none.

Lizzy is presently completing her third year of a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Western Australia. Lizzy has been with the firm since its inception.

Lizzy assists with all matters under the supervision of the principals of the firm and is primarily responsible for legal research tasks and internal file management processes.

Jonelle is the firm's practice manager and also personal assistant to both Joe Lazzara and Mark Borrello. Jonelle has over 20 years experience as a legal assistant/secretary.

A practical, thorough and intuitive thinker, Jonelle is a valued member of our team.

Kellie is the firm's administration and accounts manager and also manages the firm's document management system. Kellie brings with her a wealth of experience having been a legal assistant/secretary for 10 years.

Kellie's ability to think outside the square and to proactively come up with better systems adds value to the services provided to our clients.
